    Shri Ashokkumar Umaraochand Ranawat/Jain stands as a beacon of leadership and dynamism within Mumbai agricultural and commodities markets. With an impressive tenure of 40 years in the sugar and jaggery trade, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the industry. Currently, Shri Jain is the President of the Bombay Sugar Merchant’s Association Ltd., a position he has held with distinction for the past 18 years. His leadership in this role has been marked by progressive initiatives and a steadfast commitment to the welfare of traders and the broader market community. In addition to his presidency, Shri Jain serves as the Vice President of the Jaggery Association, where he has been instrumental in promoting the interests of jaggery producers and traders, ensuring fair practices and fostering growth in the sector.

    Shri Jignesh R. Thakker, President of Sugar King and a respected semi-wholesaler in North Gujarat for three decades. A second-generation leader at Punit Enterprise, Deesa, he brings extensive expertise and leadership in the sugar industry.

    Shri Kiran Warde has a rich history in the sugar industry, beginning his journey in 1990 at Geeta Sugar Agency, established by his father, Mr. Ishwarlal Warde, in Ahmedabad in 1983.     Shri Manoj Balgi is Vice President, Procurement at Britannia and has been with the company since 2009. He is responsible for managing procurement of raw materials, packing materials, capex and projects. Manoj holds a B.E. (Mechanical) from Pune University and a PG in Industrial Management from National Institute of Industrial Engineering.

    Shri Semal Sudhir Jain is owner at M/s Jain Sales Corporation, Kolhapur is a third generation entrepreneur, after completing his B.E joined his Grandfather into the family business. M/s Jain Sales Corporation is engaged in wholesale business of sugar for central India, South India with more than 100 sugar wholesalers. He has represented our Asso. at various events and is in the panel of the advisory committee of many organizations.

    Shri Sanjeev Chopra joined Indian Administrative Service in the year 1990. He has experience of over 33 years in different positions in State and Central Government. He is currently Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) Government of India, from 31st October, 2022. As Secretary (DFPD), he deals with matters relating to foodgrain management in the country for the central pool stocks including procurement, storage and movement of wheat, rice & coarse grain for its further distribution through network of Public Distribution System Outlets. He also deals with policy formulation for the sugar and edible oil industry in the country. Administration of National Food Security Act, 2013 is one of the major responsibilities. In the past, he has served as Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary of Departments such as Home, Industries, General Administration and Agriculture in the State Government of Odisha. He has a rich experience of servicing in State PSUs such as Odisha Mining Corporation, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation and Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation. Mr. Chopra also served as Joint Director in LBSNAA, Mussoorie where he was closely involved with the design and delivery of mid-career training programme for IAS officers. Mr. Chopra holds an M.Sc. in Urban Planning from London School of Economics, MBA from FMS, Delhi University and B.Com (H) from Shri Ram College of Commerce. He has been recipient of National e-Governance Award for Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation given by Government of India in the years 2020 and 2021.

    Ms. Alessandra Suigen Rosete

    Ms. Alessandra Suigen Rosete is a senior agriculture analyst and market expert with over two decades of experience in the global sugar and ethanol sectors. She spent several years at S&P Global Platts (formerly Kingsman), where she led market analysis, developed price benchmarks, and authored widely followed reports on supply, demand, and trade flows across South America.With experience across logistics, futures, and price reporting, Alessandra understands the sugar and ethanol markets from end to end. She has presented at international events, sharing practical and data-based insights into what drives supply, demand, and prices.

    Shri Ashwini Srivastava has extensive experience in operations, logistics, supply chain management, terminal management, business development, and railway administration. He has held key leadership positions in Indian Railways. He successfully managed the transportation of oxygen tankers and essential items during the COVID pandemic and played a pivotal role in the planning and operation of India’s first corporate train, the Tejas Express, operated by IRCTC. He attended a Technology Exchange Session for the dedicated freight corridor in Tokyo, Japan, in 2007.Currently, he is the Joint Secretary (Sugar) in the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), responsible for policy matters related to the sugar sector, including monitoring production and prices, implementing schemes, and formulating policies for ethanol production capacities.

Building on his in-depth understanding of the sugar trade in India and overseas, he has developed Garden Court Distilleries into a leading large-volume sugar trader and exporter.

    Shri B. B. Thombare, Chairman of Western India Sugar Mills Ltd., is a distinguished leader in the sugar industry for nearly five decades, boasting a remarkable career. His journey began with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and flourished through leadership roles in numerous sugar factories, most notably as Managing Director of Manjara S. S. K. Ltd. and The Vaidyanath S. S. K. Ltd., both of which achieved exceptional performance under his guidance. A testament to his entrepreneurial spirit is Natural Sugar and Allied Industries Ltd., a private sector sugar plant known for record-breaking achievements in efficiency, project cost, and construction speed. Mr. Thombare’s dedication extends beyond the industry. He actively participates in social work initiatives, earning recognition with the “Jal Mitra Award” for his commitment to water conservation. His leadership is further reflected by prestigious awards like the “Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishiratna Award” and a “Life Time Achievement Award.” Most recently, his dedication continues to be recognized with the “Best Cane Development Award 2021,” “Best Technical Efficiency Award-2022-23,” and the “SEIA Award 2024 for Most Efficient Technology for Sugar Production.”

    Shri G K Sood is a veteran in commodities, with experience spanning Oil and Natural Gas, Steel, the Agri Industry, and trading sectors. He has previously served on the Board of Shree Renuka Sugars, Advisor to Godavari Biorefineries Ltd, and held top positions at Noble Resources India and Louis Dreyfus Commodities India. An alumnus of the Delhi School of Economics, he has researched industrial development and contributed to policy formulation with the Government of India. He is also known for successfully turning around a struggling industrial unit.     Shri Mrituenjay Kumar Jha, the esteemed commodity editor of Zee Business, commands a remarkable 16-year tenure with the network, complemented by a noteworthy stint at CNBC Awaaz. With an extensive 18-year immersion in the commodity market, Mr. Jha’s expertise stands unrivaled. His flagship commodity program holds court as the premier choice among business channels.     Shri Prakash Naiknavare is the veteran of sugar sector having a long and fruitful association of more than 23 years with sugar sector. He is currently the Managing Director of NFCSF. India’s National Sugar Federation, an apex body represents all the 262 cooperative sugar mills & 9 state sugar federations across India. In the current position, he has threefold responsibility viz. parenting of member mills, providing technical consultancy to sugar mills, within & outside India & play a key role in India’s policy advocacy on sugarcane, sugar & downstream value added by-products.Academically, he has basic graduation in Agriculture Science & Post graduate Diplomas in Business Management and Marketing Management. He also had a 5 year tenure as Country Head – India of Sugar Maxx Inc., a US based MNC, which has developed 100% organic products / agri-input which aids sugar recovery in Sugarcane, Grapes, Pomegranates and Banana Plantations.Mr. Naiknavare has been closely associated with India’s Sugar / Sugarcane/ Ethanol / Co-generation related policies. He has to his honour of having contributed in various high power committees appointed by Government of India. Mr. Naiknavare has widely travelled across the globe & has visited almost all the major sugar producing countries. He has to his credit having addressed number of Sugar conferences within & outside India.

    Shri Praful Vithalani is the proprietor of a renowned Sugar Brokerage House, Jagjivan Keshavji & Co, a second-generation firm. He enjoys unique respectability across the spectrum viz, the Government of India, sugar millers, trade houses, brokers, and sugar consumers. His views are sought for his impartiality and objectivity.True to the expanse of influence, he has been instrumental, along with some other like-minded persons, to form the All India Sugar Trade Association six years ago to be the representative voice of India’s sugar sector, be it Millers, Trade houses, Brokers, Sugar Distribution Trade, Superintendence Agencies, Brokerages, Forwarders, Investors, etc. He is the founder chairman of the Association. The Association has gained an exceptional measure of respectability in the short period of its existence.Prafulbhai, as he is affectionately addressed, has served the influential Bombay Sugar Merchants Association as a member of its Managing Committee for over 35 years, where he is respected for his mature counsel. He is an alumnus of Bombay University, which has conferred on him the degree of Bachelor of Commerce.

    Ms. Priti Premji Ruparel brings over 35 years of invaluable experience to Shri Dutt India Private Limited, where she has been a pivotal figure since its inception. Throughout her tenure, she has excelled in various key roles, including supply chain management, marketing, and procurement. Her expertise extends globally, particularly in core marketing strategies for international markets, bolstering business relationships, and contributing significantly to the company’s expansion.     Shri Raj Paul Bhagria is the Chief Executive Officer of All India Sugar Trade Association [AISTA], New Delhi, which is an association of all stake holders in the sugar sector. A member of elite Indian Economic Service, he has served the Government of India in various senior positions dealing with economic policy matters, particularly those relating to sugar and sugarcane. He has held the position of Advisor in the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP) , a body responsible for advising the Government of India in the matter of pricing of crops and policies pertaining to the sector. He has also held the position of Chief Director, Sugar for over five years. He retired from service in July, 2012, after putting in 32 years. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer in the All India Sugar Trade Association. He is a Post graduate in Economics from Punjab University and M. Phil. (Economic Planning) from Glasgow University, U.K. He also hold the law degree from Delhi University.

    Shri Sachin Lakade is a seasoned professional with over 14 years of extensive experience in the Sugar and Corn industries. He has played a pivotal role in the growth and strategic development of Viterra India Pvt. Ltd., contributing significantly to its success in the agri-commodities sector. His expertise is further enriched by 8 years of dedicated work in research and market analysis, equipping him with deep insights into global trade dynamics and commodity trends.An alumnus of the Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Mr. Lakade holds an MBA with a strong focus on international trade and business strategy. His credentials are underscored by his selection as a member of the Indian delegation to China, where he represented the Government of India in promoting Indian sugar in global markets — a testament to his industry knowledge and diplomatic acumen.Mr. Lakade continues to be a respected voice in the agricultural commodities space, known for his analytical approach, strategic foresight, and commitment to advancing India’s presence in global agri-trade.

    Shri Sanjay Khatal is a Senior level Management Personnel with over 40 years of experience in the Agri-inputs and Processed Foods Industry. After his graduation in the Agricultural Engineering faculty with a B.Tech (AE) degree he has worked in the Private, Co-operative and Public Sector (Govt.) companies at different levels and varied portfolios. He has served as Director (Commercial) in National Seeds Corporation Ltd., New Delhi (A Mini Ratna Company) and presently working as Managing Director of Maharashtra State Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd Mumbai. To his credit is also a teaching stint with Symbiosis Institute of International Business for the Agri Business Management faculty. He has handled various portfolios including Fertilizers, Agro-chemicals, Animal Feeds, Agricultural Machinery and Implements, Processed foods and Agricultural seeds. Presently apart from catering to the Sugar Industry he is also handling responsibilities as Director General of Cogeneration Association of India, Pune.In the present assignments he is actively dealing in ‘Policy Advocacy’ for Sugar, Ethanol, Non-fossil Bagasse based Cogeneration and all matters related to Sugar Industry. He has conceptualised the theme “Sugar Industry the New BioEnergy Hub”.

    Shri Sangeet Singla is a member of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (2004 batch) and is presently serving as Financial Advisor at DRDO Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi. Over the years, he has held several key positions in financial management and personnel administration, including HR management for the Defence Accounts Department, financial oversight of procurement expenditure for the Indian Armed Forces, and pay management for the Indian Army. He has also served as Finance Officer with the Indian Armed Forces at the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Sudan and has contributed to HR development and training as Dy. CGDA (HRD) and Additional Director at the National Academy of Defence Financial Management, Pune. In addition, he played a vital role in the agri-commodity sector during his tenure as Director (Sugar).

    Dr. Seema Paroha is the first woman Director of the National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur, since its establishment in 1936. She holds a postgraduate degree in Biochemistry from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, and a Ph.D. from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.nd North Africa. With over 25 years of academic experience, she joined NSI Kanpur in 2014 as Professor and Head of the Biochemistry Department. Dr. Paroha has significantly contributed to the establishment of NABL accredited test facilities at NSI. She specializes in alcoholic fermentation and ethanol production from alternative feedstocks and has developed waste disposal techniques for distilleries in the Ganga and Yamuna basins. Her work also focuses on improving the profitability and sustainability of the Indian sugar industry. She has published numerous research papers in both National & International Journals and also guided 7 Ph.D. and more than 40 dissertations students.

    Dr. Shweta Saini is CEO at Arcus Policy Research Private Limited. She is an agriculture economist and has led/co-led various policy research and evaluation studies ranging from impact of various programs on farmer productivity, income and access to market, beside India’s ethanol blending programme. She has participated in multilateral discussions on issues pertaining to global trade. She has led cross-geography policy work with central government and state governments to suggest policy changes and design focused roadmap to improve farmer income, nutritional outcomes and farmer productivity. She has co-authored three books and several research papers. She is leading author of many papers published in various national and international journals, reports, and policy documents. She contributes opinion pieces regularly to reputed national dailies. She is an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi

Somnath has done his post-graduation in humanities with specialization in tea and coffee tasting from J. Thomas & Co, Kolkata and Thompson Lloyd & Ewart of London. He has undergone various management courses on: Procurement psychology, Price Risk Mitigation, Internal controls, Process Management & lean management. He is a member of Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce and Indian Merchants Chamber.     Shri Yogesh Patil, Executive Director and CFO at Athani Sugars Limited (ASL), with over 15 years of experience. He holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the UK. He oversees various operations including purchase, sales, HR, manufacturing, finance, and accounts. ASL, a family-owned business, operates five sugar mills with a total crushing capacity of 34,000 TCD. Mr. Patil has also held prominent positions in Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), Western Indian Sugar Mills Association (WISMA), and Southern Indian Sugar Mills Association (SISMA).
