SWABHIMANI SHETKARI’ SANGHSTANA WORKERS TAKE OUT MORCHA FOR FRP

Uniindia – 17 February 2018: Kolhapur, Feb 17 (UNI) Hundreds of workers of Swabhimani Shetkari’ Sanghstana (SSS) took out a huge morcha to Sugar Deputy Director’s Office in Laxmipuri Area late evening on Saturday demanding Fair Remunerative Price (FRP) plus Rs 200 for per tone sugarcane as per
settlement with the government and sugar factory owners.
SSS workers led by its National President MP Raju Shetty gathered at historic Dasara chowk and began their morcha to Sugar Deputy Director’s Office in Laxmipuri Area of the city shouting slogans for FRP.
After passing through main streets, morcha reached at the office and a demonstration was held against the government and sugar factory owners.
Mr Shetty, while addressing a gathering of huge number of farmers and SSS workers, said in a meeting with Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil and sugar factory owners it was decided that government would give FRP plus Rs 200 for per tone sugarcane as a first installment but now following crashing of sugar rates in the market, factory owners had started to give Rs 500 short of expectation to the sugarcane producing farmers.
Mr Shetty said Mr Patil had taken credit for solving the FRP issue and advertisement was published in the newspapers but now minister Mr Patil had disappeared and failed to mediate for farmers.
He demanded the government order all sugar factory owners to give FRP plus Rs 200 as per agreement.
Later, a delegation led by Mr Shetty met Sachin Raval, Sugar Deputy Director and handed over a memorandum of demands.
Prof Jalandhar Patil, Bhagvan Kate, SSS District President, Savkar Madnaik, Rajendra Gaddyanvar, Ramesh Bhijkar and others participated in agitation.
