Sugar stays unchanged

Sugar prices were unchanged on Monday as demand, supply and volume remained normal. With the start of new crushing season, supplies in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh improved.

Producers were keen to ease their old stocks. Bulk and retail demand came down. Prices at Vashi were ₹4-5 a quintal higher – lower as per quality. Naka and mill tender rates were steady.

Arrivals at Vashi market were 60-62 truck loads and local dispatches were at 59- 60 truck loads. Freight rates were steady.

On Saturday evening 15-16 mills sold about 32,000 bags at ₹3,490-3,550 (₹3,490 – 3,550) for S-grade and ₹3,580-3,640 ( ₹3,580-3,640) for M-grade. On Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates were: (in ₹) S-grade 3,620- 3,710 (Rs. 3,620-3,700) and M-grade 3,720 – 3,882 (3,720 – 3,882). Naka delivery rates were: (in ₹) S-grade 3,600 – 3,660 (3,600 – 3,660) and M-grade 3,640 – 3,780 ( 3,640 – 3,780).
