Sugar prices slide on weak demand
Sugar prices came down by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on slackened demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid ample stocks position on increased supplies from mills.
According to marketmen, besides fading demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers after the end of festive season coupled with the steady inflow of arrivals from mills mainly pulled down sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices declined by Rs 50 each to settle at Rs 3,940-4,060 and Rs 3,930-4,050 per quintal, respectively.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also weakened by Rs 40 each to finish at Rs 3,600-3,820 and Rs 3,590-3,810 per quintal.
In the mill gate segment, sugar Dorala, Simbholi, Khatuli and Sakoti prices too slipped by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,760, Rs 3,750, Rs 3,765 and Rs 3,700, while Kinnoni, Asmoli, Ramala, Shamli, Anupshaher, Chandpur and Nanota dropped by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,820, Rs 3,780, Rs 3,600, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,600, Rs 3,660 and Rs 3,600 per quintal.
