SUGAR PRICES REMAIN WEAK

India Today – 3 March 2018: sugar Weak conditions prevailed at the wholesale sugar market for yet another week with prices falling by up to Rs 50 per quintal following adequate stocks position amid reduced demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said mounting stocks on persistent supplies from mills mainly weighed on the sweetener prices.

Fall in offtake by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers too put pressure on prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 50 each to end the week at Rs 3,230-3,380 and Rs 3,220-3,370 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices also slipped by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,480-3,630 and Rs 3,470-3,620 per quintal.

In the mill gate section, sugar Simbholi, Khatuli, Dhampur and Malakpur declined by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,350, Rs 3,345, Rs 3,245 and Rs 3,235, while Kinnoni receded by Rs 40 to Rs 3,380 per quintal.

Sugar Asmoli, Dorala and Dhanora slipped by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,320, Rs 3,300 and Rs 3,330, while Thanabhavan, Sakoti and Shamli slackened by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,300, Rs 3,270 and Rs 3,290 per quintal respectively.

Prices of Budhana too came down by Rs 15 at Rs 3,310 and Mawana shed Rs 10 at Rs 3,300 per quintal.
