Sugar prices decline on reduced demand

Mumbai, Jul 5 Small sugar prices declined further at the Vashi wholesale market here today following reduced demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Elsewhere, medium sugar slipped due to subdued offtake from stockists and retailers.

Small sugar dropped by Rs 48/48 per quintal to Rs 3,232/3,312 from Wednesday’s closing level of Rs 3,280/3,360.

Medium sugar (M-30) fell by Rs 48/42 per quintal to Rs 3,302/3,600 as against Rs 3,350/3,642 yesterday.

Following are today’s closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,232/3,312 (Rs 3,280/3,360).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,302/3,600 (Rs 3,350/3,642).
