Sugar prices up on restricted arrivals

Sugar prices at Vashi further rose by ₹150-240 surpassing ₹3,600-3,700 level on Friday as arrivals from mills still remain standstill due to transporters strike amid reduced inventory stocks in the hands of traders. Sugar prices at Vashi spot market went up by ₹275-400 till now in absence of new arrivals. Normally inventory stock of 115-120 truckloads lying at Vashi market which is almost evaporated in one week and put market on boiling stage. On Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates were: S-grade ₹3,600-3,650 and M-grade ₹3,642-3,752.
