Sugar surges on govt package
MUMBAI, JUNE 7
Sugar prices shot up at mill level by ₹140-150 a quintal after the government’s announcement of ₹7,000-crore bail-out package for the sector . Majority of the mills stay away selling commodity on Wednesday below ₹2,900 lifting prices at Vashi by over ₹100 today. Naka trade also took place at the same level. Morale was firm, said sources. In Maharashtra’s about 22 mills sold about 40,000 bags ₹2,920-3,000 for S-grade and ₹2,980-3,080 for M-grade. Naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹2,970-3,040 and M-grade ₹3,010-3,140.
