MUMBAI, JUNE 7

Sugar prices shot up at mill level by 140-150 a quintal after the government’s announcement of 7,000-crore bail-out package for the sector . Majority of the mills stay away selling commodity on Wednesday below 2,900 lifting prices at Vashi by over 100 today. Naka trade also took place at the same level. Morale was firm, said sources. In Maharashtra’s about 22 mills sold about 40,000 bags 2,920-3,000 for S-grade and 2,980-3,080 for M-grade. Naka delivery rates were: S-grade 2,970-3,040 and M-grade 3,010-3,140.
